Chat-a-nooga Choo Choo....

Well, today was a bit of a bummer if you can imagine that, yes, it rained! It was warm out all day, but rained this morning, stopped over lunch and then rained a bit more this afternoon. Gave us a chance to catch up on a few things..... like laundry.....(yuck) , and some computer stuff, like trying to get blogger program working properly again, and it appears I have been successful! All it took was to download another web browser, (Firefox) and all appears to be well again. My problems started when I tried to upgrade Internet Explorer to level 8 and all of a sudden Blogger did not want to work any more.... the nerve! So far so good with Firefox!

Received some sad new from AnnaMarie Reynolds at RBC. Bill Harrington passed away last night after recent illness. Bill was a good guy that I got to know through the monthly Christian Fellowship Men's Breakfast. Bill was a retired Bank Manager having worked at Scotiabank. He will be missed!

So I did not bother to take pictures of the laundry being done.... but we did go down to the front to buy some tickets for some upcoming shows, and the guys were out playing with the electric train set... they take that kind of stuff very serious here!



They had a nice Ferris wheel built, that actually was turning....

And of course it would not be an Arizona day without one of these screaming overhead...


Our neighbours invited us out for dinner at a local bar and grill so we went and had a great time. Lots of people from Iowa in this park. We were the token Canadians tonight! Not as many Canuks up here in Tucson area as in Yuma!

Still having problems it seems with Blogger, as the writing is blue and is underscored... don't know why and will try to fix it! It is hard work!

Another nice day in Tucson. Temperatures got up to about 25 degrees C. today! We started off by going down to the Main Office this morning and participated in a "Newbie" conference. They invite all new people to the park, and a bunch of volunteers tell you all about what is going on, and where you can do it! It was good, with a bunch of good info. We did learn to go downtown Tucson to the Visitors Information Booth and pick up a Passport, which give you entrance to 42 different attractions in the Tucson area for 1/2 price! We will put this to work! Cost only $15.00 and you will make that up on the first attraction you go to! They sell over 50 passports a day here. Do the math....


Was messing with the camera this morning and took a pic of our site at Rincon...


We drove downtown and parked to visit the Information Booth. This is the tallest building in Tucson. Very nice downtown area, seems to be lots to see and do and is very visitor friendly.

This is across the street from that big building and houses the Visitors Information Booth.

We headed home and had lunch, and decided it was too nice to stay home, so we jumped on the bikes and decided to drive down to Nogales, AZ. It is another border town with Mexico. We took Hwy. 19 down, which was very busy and fast.... speed limit is 75 miles per hour, and for whatever reason, all the mileage signs were in Klms. Go figure.... made me feel like I was back home.

We made it down to Nogales, and yes, just another brick in the wall..... the famous Mexico fence was in full bloom. This Town is built on hills, and is divided down the middle by the "Wall"...

We stopped here for some pics, and the border patrol came to check us out.... just over the fence on the left of the picture is Mexico, Arizona is on the right of course...

We stopped at Micky Dee's for an ice cream, and sat outside.... this is a view of Mexico from Micky's from yard....


We took a combination of Hwy. 82, 83, and 10 on the way home. It was an incredible route to take through all the mountains in the area, there are a lot of them. No traffic on these back roads, it was great... these pics were from a pull off area...

Judy was taking some pictures when these two big rocks fell down beside her.... yikes, I yelled at her, but she said, "not to worry, I have my helmet on!".......

Up the road a short piece, and we came across this historic site...this is a very historic part of the west, and the Apache Cochise had a large part to play in that history. In the weeks to come you will hear more of this history....

There was a family shrine at this location that we checked out. It has been here since the late 1800's. A family made it in remembrance of their son who went off to fight the Indians...

It was a beautiful drive back up to Tucson, we enjoyed every minute of it.... Stopped to take pictures of this mountain, yes that is a bunch of snow up there...seems funny to look up and see the snow, while you are nice and warm riding your motorcycle... go figure...we found a sign just up the road that told us we were at about 4200 feet, which would put this mountain at about 6,000 feet I figure. It did cool off a bit at this elevation, but we soon dropped back down to the desert floor, and were stopped by our friends at the border patrol of course...

We saw lots and lots of this today....

Just another great day. Made it home in time to live pause the Leaf game so we could go jump in the hot tub of course! Hockey game was awesome! Leafs 3 to nothin over the Devils.... love it...all the new guys played great! There is some hope maybe... Talked to Dr. Hollinger this afternoon to rub in the trade a bit more, and he did not seem to like that too much... His new Flames kind of Flamed Out in their first game! Tis hockey!

Talked to Kristina (aka pack leader) and she was telling me the weather was not too good today from Toronto to Woodstock... yuck... She also reports that her one cat, Graham is starting to stand up to that dog that came in and tried to take over! Good for you Graham....

Tomorrow is supposed to rain here..... yuck.... we need an "off" day anyways to do some mundane tasks that seem to be in need of doing on a regular basis...

Was able to edit the blog tonight using Judy's computer, as mine is not behaving properly....

A visit to the "Desert Museum"...still having blog problems...

Still having problems manipulating my pictures in blogger tonight, so here is another backwards blog.... We spent the day at the Desert Museum, a great place inside a State Park... we started off with this show in a theatre on the rattlesnake... you do not want to get bit by one....$5,000 for 1 vile of anti-venom in the U.S. and you need on average 20 viles per bite!

Lots of info on the Saguaro Cactus... (pronounced suh-wah-row) The big ones you see in our pictures can be 100 years old... birds peck holes in them to lay their eggs... doesn't hurt the cactus.

Yesterday the blogger program gave me problems, and they continue tonight.... :-(( Yesterday I wanted to post pictures of the airplane bone yard in Tucson and was denied.... here they are tonight... all kinds of planes just parked in the desert...

Many of you know that I enjoy watching my Toronto Maple Leafs, and after yesterday it will be like watching a whole new team! I hereby officially approve of the two big trades made yesterday with Calgary! Brian Burke has a plan and he is working it! He is not near finished and hopefully we end up with a good team. I will continue to watch them! Enough said... talk to Shawn for his feelings about what is going on with the Calgary Maple Leafs......no, I mean the Calgary Flames! sorry Shawn, and thanks for Dion...
