I was in London today... but no Olympics!!!

Ohhh... guess I didn't mention that I was in London, Ontario, did I??? Sorry... Had to take an unexpected trip into London today with Kristina, who thankfully is feeling better, but was in line for a trip to the Dr. Office, just to check things out... Too bad the Olympics are in London, England, as I would have gone!

Sure turned out to be a beautiful day here again... lots of sun and 29 deg. C. today!

While we were in London, Kristina took the opportunity to visit Baby's R Us, and do a bit of Gwenny shopping. She picked up a few things that were a big hit with Gwenny...

These little toys she is holding on tight to, are called "Weeble Wobbles"... she now has a small army of these things, and simply loves them... you can shake them and a roller ball inside them makes a nice noise. These ones were special, as they can float in water.

These nice warm days, Gwenny is real quick to give you the hint about going for a swim! She grabs her gear, and starts to head for the pool! She took her new Weeble Wobbles with her, and had a blast!

Not much else on the go here today... just taking life easy, the way it should be!

Till tomorrow...

How much would you pay???

I recently read an article about tech stuff, that I found quite interesing... Google Fibre!

Google is starting up a trial run, in Kansas City, Mo. to see how their new product is received. Kansas City was picked out of 1,100 Cities that wanted to do the test! Like winning a lottery!

Here is what you get!

Blazing fast internet! How about a down load rate of 1 Gig per second! That is even faster than everyone leaving work in Toronto on a Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. This speed is 100 times faster than the current internet speed in Kansas City! That is fast!

There is no cap on the data for the internet you use! Bonus!

You get a free Nexus 7 Tablet which you use on the internet, and it also acts as a remote control for the TV portion of you plan.

Yes, Fibre TV. You get more channels than you can watch, and you can PVR up to 8 programs at the same time! Can you say NHL Hockey? You also get a 2 terabyte storage box for that PVR! Amazing! Of course , the TV is all in HD.

You also get Google Drive, which sincs all you devices to share the same data. Good stuff!

So, how much is all this worth, and how much are you willing to pay??? How about $120.00 a month for the whole shooting match! It sounds like a lot, but when you think about it, it might be a deal! Go figure that Google would get into delivery of the internet and TV! Apparently you can get this in September if you live in Kansas City. Probably will not take too long to spread! Come on Ma Bell, bring it on!

You can get just the internet portion for $70.00 a month if you don't want all that TV.

Kristina was not feeling well this morning, so Judy and I headed into Town to help out a bit with Gwenny. We took her over to the local park, as it was a beautiful, sunny morning here again! (Start broken record now...)

Gwenny wants to walk everywhere she goes now, and I seem to end up with a sore back, bending over to help her all the time! What a kid!

Gwenny also likes the water as you all know, and I had to take one for the team here, getting a bit of an unexpected shower trying to take this picture... the smart phone took a shower as well, but all is good!

Our Park owner Ron, was working with his son in law, Scott, on building some new camp sites today. They had a neat little bulldozer and a tractor going, and I sat for 20 minutes just sucking it all in... why do I love watching machines work so much??? Crazy, but fun!

Till tomorrow...

A trip over to the Grand...

We had some more rain early this morning, which is great for all our crops and grass that is starting to return to green...nice to see.

This afternoon after the weather turned back to warm and sunny, we decided to go for a ride out on the motorcycles. Brantford is a great spot, and we wanted to go and check out a park which has some trails along the grand river.

The Grand meanders it's way through Brantford, and is quite nice.

This picture below is the start of the trail we chose...it was quite warm this afternoon, and we only wanted to walk about 1/2 an hour or so...

There was about 8 soccer fields at the start of this trail... great for all the kids to get out on...

The Grand River runs quite wide through Brantford, and moves at a nice pace, and actually looks very clean! We could see fish from the shore.

Check out the natural arch on the trail below... it was nice and cool as we walked under the canopy.

Judy is on a bridge that crosses over a trout river that dumps into the Grand.

I found this great big old Oak Tree, out in the middle of the soccer fields, today's pics were taken with the iPad.

We got our walk done, and it was time to jump back on the iron, and make our way back to Woodstock, via Paris. Great day for riding...

Gotta go and get caught up on the Olympics...

The Opening Ceremonies were certainly over the top! Even if the Queen did not smile, I simply love watching that stuff, and I gave this one a 10 out of 10! Excellent. Wouldn't want to pay the bill for it, but what a show! Good on London and all the Brits!

Till tomorrow...

Phew... the heat is on...

Yes, the heat is back on... it just never seams to end this year... gotta love it I guess...

This morning Judy and I headed into the Millenium Trail System and put in 40 minutes of hard walking, to get our heart rates going! Gotta listen to those Dr's you know!

We dropped by to see how little Gwenny was doing, as she has not been 100% for the past couple days now. Glad to say she was doing much better... maybe 90% today.

Kristina and Chris found a great picnic table and umbrella for her, to enjoy with her sand box... she still has a bit of a rash, but her temperature was back to normal. Judy and I watched Gwenny while Kristina went out to do some shopping, and earning a well deserved break for a couple hours.

Chris has a great hoby, and that is gardening...

Check out the sunflower he has growing in his garden... amazing, the bees were just a buzing it today.

Above are some nice red peppers he has growing, although a lot of them are still green. He also loves to pickel stuff, so all these peppers will be used.

This weekend, Chris wants to do a bunch of yardwork around his house, so he needed our Jeep to pull the trailer around, and bring in fire wood, and a whole bunch of other stuff. We decided to swap vehicles for the weekend, and we got to use their Zoom Zoom.... When I got it out to the RV, it was a bit dirty from being in Port Burwell camping last weekend, so I gave it the deluxe wash and vacuum job. Don't tell Chris and Kristina... it is a surprise... oh, wait a minute, I think they read the blog... darn... contrary to other bloggers, our Kids actually read the blog... go figure!

Gotta go Olympic Watching tonight...

Till tomorrow...

You can watch our crops grow now...

Last night the rain came down pretty heavy in the middle of the night, along with some hail! It was very warm, and really unusual to hear hail hit the RV's roof. It was not hard to tell it was hail...

You could almost watch all the crops in this area start growing again with a real good rain we received, and to boot, it has been raining a good part of this afternoon as well! Lots of corn in our area!

Not a lot going on today... we were planning on a trip up to Orillia to visit my Mother, however we cancelled it as Gwenny is just not feeling 100% and she wanted to come, so we will reschedule that trip.

I did drive into Woodstock on the motorcycle for a little trip this afternoon, and was down by the old Swiss Chalet, so thought I would check in with the destruction... here is a short video I took on the smart phone... only about 10 seconds, but give you a big idea of what a machine can do!

Tomorrow is certainly a big day, with the opening of the Olympics in London!

Being a big sports fan, I plan on watching as much as I can, and will be cheering on our Canadian Atheletes. Also the Opening Ceremonies are scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, with over 1 Billion People scheduled to watch! Wish I could collect $1.00 from everybody!!!

Till tomorrow...

"Do the walls come down when you think of me..."

I was singing the song "Do the walls come down", by Carly Simon, as I drove down the main street of Woodstock today. I was also thinking of a nice Swiss Chalet Quarter Chicken Dinner, as the wall came tumbling down today....

Last fall, we enjoyed a terrific Family Dinner inside this Swiss Chalet... always one of our favorite spots to eat! For some reason, the Company felt it was time to go "New", and they built a new Swiss Chalet and Harvey's Restaurant out by the Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire Store... Progress I guess! The building on main street, had been there for a while, and I guess was maybe a bit tired, but certainly still in not too bad a shape. However, the big scoop made short work of the entire building today real quick! It is a very prime lot on Dundas Street, and I am sure there is something in the works that I do not now about... time will tell. What you see below, is the machine at the very back of the building, digging towards the front, I am viewing from the side.

I love watching destruction... sat there for about 15 minutes watching... you can do that when your retired!

Early this morning Judy and I headed out to the Standard Tube Trail to get some exercise recorded in our books! It was a beautiful day here, with no humidity! As we started out walking along the Thames River, I noticed some changes to the River... not sure why, or who, but they tried to divert the low flow of water coming down the river to the far side... strange...

I had a couple more pictures to post tonight from out walk, but Blogsy is giving me some error messages, and won't let me load them up at the moment... probably needs a rest. The pics were of some very dry conditions we are now experiencing here in Woodstock. Back in June I blogged about how good a summer it was for the crops here, as we had lots of rain. What a difference a month makes... July had very little rain, and real hot temperatures... all the blackberry bushes are dying off with the berries on the vine! Local corn is stressed as well now, however we are calling for big rain tonight maybe... here is hoping!

Till tomorrow...

We are off to see the......Dr.

Seems like we have spent an awful amount of time at the Dr.'s Office lately, and that may be right! However, it all has to be done. Gwenny just recently turned 1, and it was time for her to see the Family Dr. and get some shots! (Oh-oh...) Judy and I had appointments to meet Dr. Aswald in London, who is a Cardiologist.

No, that is not Dr. Aswald above, nor is that me with all the wires on, however that is exactly how we looked today as I completed a stress test in his office. He is a very thorough Dr. (which is good, I think) and watched me like a hawk as I completed the test, right to the point of running on the treadmill!

He declared that I was fit as a fiddle after the test. He was very happy with everything that I was doing, including the meds I take, and said change nothing, especially going to DHS for the winter! What a Dr.!

He also gave Judy the once over today as well. He had our results from our Cardiograms we had completed last week. Judy is also in great shape, and ready to start climbing mountains again down in California! Allright!

Gwenny made it in to see the Family Doctor, and she passed with flying colours as well!

Hopefully she will not look back on this blog post when she turns 18, as she will be chasing me around the block! Her development is excellent, in the top 10% of all the growth catagories, and even read the bottom line of that eye chart for the Dr. What a kid!

Gwenny also got 2 needles today, and even though she had a little band-aid stuck on her leg, reports are she did not even cry when the Nurse gave her the shots! Atta go Gwenny!

On the way home, we stopped at David and Dianne's place, and gave Gwenny a big treat for being so good at the Dr.'s Office... a nice swim! (I know, she looks pretty serious above...)

I decided not to go for a dip, but did just sit back and take it all in. They have a great pool complex.

Gwenny has her own float at the house, and was just about ready for her nap when we finished up.

While Gwenny was taking a break this afternoon, I headed into London myself to do some shopping. I wanted to check out a meat store, but it was closed anyways. So, instead I ended up in Forrest City Surplus, which is a great store where I spent 45 minutes looking around and getting ideas for future stuff! I did pick up a set of "wireless headphones" that you see above. They are made by Jansen, and work very good, and are nice and light! The cost: $5.95 !!!! I could not pass this one up! What a great store! Will be back...

Till tomorrow...

OK, I give in....

Last night we enjoyed a big old thunder storm, with lots of nice rain that we needed bad! Rained for about an hour, and it felt good.

Problem is, today, it is hotter than ever! Humidity is real high...it just does not stop this year...

Kristina brought Gwenny out for a swim this morning, she loved it. They went camping on the weekend and Gwenny just loved it. She also has just put interest into placing one foot in front of the other, like you would if you were walking! Check out the short video I took with the iPad this morning:

It won't be long before Mom and Dad are having to run after her all the time!

Today, I just finished reading three books by Suzanne Colin's. They are a Series, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingbird. It is a great series of books, and the first book is already on the big screen. We watched it this spring down in Lake Havasu City, Az. We loved the movie.

I really enjoyed the books, very well written, great storey line and easy to read and follow.

Problem is, I think I would rather read the book before watching the movie! What do you prefer to do on this? I think I get more out of the movie if I have read the book in advance. I know what is going to happen, and sort of wait for it when watching.

Spent this afternoon doing some motorcycle maintenance while trying to stay cool.

Till tomorrow...

Good times in Mount Forest...

Last night we had a BLAST at the Mount Forest Fireworks Festival! It was hard to believe how many people showed up for the Fireworks display! The weather was just perfect, and people came out in the thousands!

However, before the fireworks, we had to enjoy the Mount Forest Kin Beef BBQ. What a dinner they put on for $15.00! Roast beef, baked potatoes, corn, salad, and desert! The picture below is part of the line up to get your dinner... we all enjoyed.

After dinner, we headed outside to enjoy others aspects of the festival... check out the brand new Mount Forest Sports Complex. What a great facility for this Community!

There was a Company that put on a great display with performing dogs... they did a number of stunts, including high jumping... frisbee catching, and agility work. It was great to watch. You can check out the very short video I included below, of the dog high jumping, along with a view of the crowd that showed up to watch the dogs do their thing...

Back a while ago, City TV had a show called "Canada has Talent", and the dog below was on that show... he was excellent, and it was obvious a lot of time had been spent with him on his training. Sorry, I can't remember his name. The trainer was telling the crowd that unfortunately, the dog has a small tumour on his brain, and is having to deal with that.

I am never good at taking pictures of fireworks, so I did not even try... I would rather watch and enjoy the show, and last night the show was one of the best firework displays Judy and I have seen in a long time... It was a great 20 minute display set to popular classic rock music. Well done Mount Forest!

Made it back home this afternoon, in intense heat again! Judy and I went down and enjoyed a swim trying to keep cool.

Till tomorrow...

Road Trip - Mount Forest!

Could not get the blog put together last night...too busy again! Judy and I took off yesterday on our motorcycles, and headed up to Mount Forest to visit good friends Jim and Ruth. We lived here in Mount Forest 30 years ago! Kristina was born here. Jim and Ruth wanted us to come up for the Mount Forest Fireworks Festival, including the Kinsmen Beef BBQ. I was a member of the Kinsmen Club 30 years ago.

Last night we enjoyed sitting out in nice temperatures...

Meet Harbour, Jim and Ruth's 5year old black lab... He loves his pool.

Part of the weekend is a Show and Shine on the Main Street for Classic Cars and Motorcycles...lots of people out for this today.

I loved this 66 Mustang Convertable below...

Cars and people everywhere...

Even some nice Corvettes showed up today...

I sure love the old Mustangs...(I had a 66, and I miss it, can you tell?)

All kinds of crazy stuff going on...

It was a good time, meeting people along the way.

Of course I had to check out the Motorcycles...

They had an excellent turn out of bikes.

It was hard work so we had to stop in that big white tent above to be refreshed! An excellent group provided live entertainment in the big top.

Tonight we are heading over for the beef BBQ and fireworks, so should be a good evening.

Till tomorrow...
