Yes we have come FULL CIRCLE!
On Friday, May 7th, we arrived back at our starting point, the KOA in Gravenhurst. 8,447 Miles in total for our trip south this year. It is now officially over! We enjoyed every mile of it! We started October 23, 2009 and headed for Woodstock, and this past Friday we returned from Woodstock.... with a whole bunch of other places crammed in between. Sorry about no blog for the past two days.... On Thursday night I was simply way to tired to do a blog after a busy day, and on Friday night we did not get to our KOA until 7:00 p.m. and I did not bother putting up the satellite dish until this morning.
I have a few pictures for all you picture lovers... the first one I found was one Judy took of Chris and Kristina with their dog Cali. We had a great week doing all kinds of things with the kids and Cali... I really like the way they have worked with and trained Cali. It is a joy to walk this dog she is so well trained! Here they are inside our RV on the last day we spent at Woodstock.
As I mentioned before, we stayed at the Pittock Conservation area, on Lake Pittock in Woodstock, which is only a five minute drive to the kids house. Here is our site we had, which is right on the lake...
It is a great spot to go camping, and Cali sure liked running around the park.
That is the Woodstock Condo project on the other side of the Lake... lots of Canada Geese flying by our site every morning, along with ducks and lots of fish jumping...
So our time came to an end in Woodstock, and Friday was our get-a-way day. Judy has to return to the real world of work on Monday, so we had to get back up north to Gravenhurst. During our week in Woodstock area, I talked about looking around for another vehicle, one which we can tow behind the motor home and do some trail riding next year with down south... I looked in Ingersol, Stratford, Woodstock, London and a couple other places.... hard to find what we wanted.... We finally decided we could look at Jeep Liberty, as it is 4 wheel drive and can be flat towed on all four wheels behind the motor home. I did some research on the internet and found a dealer in Burlington which had about 15 previously enjoyed units on their lot. On Friday when we headed out, we took off for Burlington to see what was there. Little did we know, we would find the vehicle we have been looking for! We have purchased a 2006 Trail Rated Jeep Liberty Sport 4 X 4. It has every thing we wanted on a vehicle and is also in terrific shape. I had looked for a new Corvette to keep up with Tom R. but was unable to come up with one, so had to settle for the Jeep!
This Jeep just came off a Corporate Lease, and J. P. Motors in Burlington picks them up and sells lots of them. There is not a mark on this thing.... nice and clean inside as well. It appears General Electric was the Company who used it on the lease...
Everything went very well in making a deal with them Friday, and we traded in our trusty Pontiac Grand Am. A problem arose when I wanted to see the Jeep Manual to confirm the flat towing capability, and weight of the vehicle. There was no manual. After an hour and 1/2 or so of looking, we finally came up with the correct information we needed to make our decisions, and we went ahead with the deal! Of course, today, I found in about 5 minutes on the internet, how to go to the Jeep web site, and you can download the complete Jeep 2006 manual for free, all 466 pages of it! We pick up our Jeep next Thursday! I will have to find a nice muddy back country road and challenge Tom to a race with his Vette!
As I mentioned we made it back Friday night to the KOA. Today we got settled on our site, and this afternoon we met David and Angela for a coffee at Timmies... Good to see them again. They had a mega bag of 6 months of our mail for us!
After coffee we headed back to the RV for the night. I set up Star Choice in about 5 minutes... fastest set up ever.... and got to watch Montreal lose to Pittsburg....
While at the RV this afternoon, it actually started to SNOW.... What's that all about???????
Here is the proof for you....
It is hard to believe our 6 months down south is over! It seemed to go very fast for us both. I said to Judy there was not 1 minute of the trip that I was bored! There was always something to see, do, smell, taste, take a picture of, climb, walk over, ride, visit, tour, ask questions about, watch, pay for, un- do, take apart, fix, break, look up, look out for, cook, fill up, empty, plug in, count, laugh at, be in awe of, wonder about, and still make it to happy hour at the end of the day!
Now that we are parked for the next 6 months in our KOA, and Judy goes back to work, I will have a number of thing to do. I have a couple projects lined up for the RV. New flooring is one of them. At this point in time, I do not think I will be working this summer.... but never say never.... I plan on starting to collect my Bank Pension and live the retired life! I figure I have had 6 months of training, and now it is time to get serious about this retirement thing!
As things may be a little boring in the next 6 months due to the fact we are not travelling, please do not expect a blog every night... I will try to keep it updated as much as possible!
Thanks to all the viewers of the blog, this past week we turned over 6,500 hits for the past 6 months on the blog.... about 1,000 hits a month..... I would never have thought.......
Going to see Mom tomorrow... It is Mother's Day!
Till tomorrow....
