We knew we were in for a good hike today just from the hoo doos at the trail head!
There was a lot of defective rocks on this hike today, just like the one in the picture below… where has quality control gone these days???
She is smiling here, but you should have seen her at the end…
Here I am playing with my Magellan GPS… we had a couple problems on the trail today, like losing our way for a bit, but our GPS got us back on track… this was a real wilderness trail, quite scenic!
We ran into a couple from the Ottawa area on the trail and they took this picture of us. They were about the same age as us, and were just married! Actually on their honeymoon! They were flying back to Ottawa tomorrow.
All the way out on the trail, we were climbing and it was hot! We had to stop for a number of breaks along the way.
There was lots of this on the trail… it was 3 miles out, and then 3 miles back in…
My favourite pic of the day, with the natural framing…
Lots of rock everywhere…
We stopped here for lunch, right by some hoo doos…
WE MADE IT!
This trail is called “Freemont’s Saddle”. We had to climb 1,450 feet in total, to enjoy of view that you see below… Weaver’s Needle! Incredible!
Our Jeep was parked 3 miles back up the canyon…
This was to our right as we viewed the needle…
My 2nd. favourite picture of the day, another defective rock with it’s own Saguaro Cactus!
These guys blocked the sun for us on the return trip, so it was nice and cool… just another great day in Az.
We enjoyed a nice relaxing hot tub and diner with Bob when we got back to the Resort this afternoon. Bob was playing hockey today.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring…
Till tomorrow…
whooo hooo!..way to go!!
