Humidity plus today...

WOW...

The temperatures hit above 80 deg. F. today, but the humidity simply took over. I thought it was a normal type Florida day, and went for a walk around the Park this morning at a real quick pace, and soon found myself sweating like you know what... after a 1/2 hour of that, I figured it was enough... couldn't take it anymore!

So, I decided to take the rest of the day off! Just too hot. Judy asked me if I wanted to accompany her over to the Eagle Ridge Mall to do a bit of shopping, and I quickly said "YES"... (Think air conditioning!)

Eagle Ridge Mall is a little strange as far as I am concerned... it is HUGE! One of the biggest malls I have ever been in. It is in Lake Wales, Florida, just off Highway 27. As you can see, there is a Dillard's, Sears, JC Penny, and a bunch other big box stores... they have everything here except customers! Judy had a good point today, in that the mall is quite a piece off the Highway, and you don't really see it as you approach, so people go right by. I find it hard to believe they are still open, with so few customers, however, what do I know! It was nice and cool inside anyways, as we walked around. Even talked Judy into buying me lunch at one of my favourites, Taco Bell!

During my walk today, I sure noticed a bunch of empty sites, that were full not that long ago. We are slowly becoming empty, as many RV'ers start to make the long journey home... I thought for a moment, hey, why don't we go home early, but then I watched the CTV News out of Toronto tonight and all I saw was snow flying all over the place... forget it!

The Park we are in is quite small as far as roads go. It was built back in the 60's, and RV's were just not big at all back then. See the two Park workers replacing the Light Pole above in the Park? Someone came in last weekend to camp, and they made a left hand turn around this corner, and took the light pole out with the side of the MH. Costly mistake... cost them $700.00 to replace the tire on the MH, and also did some body damage. The Park replaced the light pole. Yikes...

Oh ya, just an update for our Daughter, Kristina. This morning while I was walking, I went over to Walmart beside us, and sure enough, the Mother Duck, and her 14 baby ducklings were still all happily swimming around the water retention pond! Of course, the were still swimming right in front of the alligator... go figure!

Till tomorrow...

  1. Huge difference between Florida and Arizona. Today was in the 90's but no humidity of course, what a difference.
    Those silly ducks

  2. The park we're staying at in Florida is still as full as it has been. I expect the first of April to be a big travel day though.

I think we're getting another cool front and lower humidity. I agree, it was so humid yesterday!

  4. You would think the park would move that pole BACK some. Another MH may make the same mistake.

  5. Caliente Springs RV resort was as you remember it; hot, dry, and windy (at least during the night) these past two days.

Your sport is occupied...and has been since our arrival here.

I hope the humidity dissipates soon so that you can get back to your favorite activities.
