A visit to the Mote!

With the weather just a bit cooler today, however still strong sunshine, we all decided to was time to hit the Mote! This is a terrific Aquarium over on the waterfront at Sarasota. Judy and I visted here last year, but felt it was the place Gwenny and Charlie should get to see!

The buildings above house the Manatee, Sea Turtles, and the Dolphin exhibit. Lots to see and do!

First off was to find the scuba diver and octopus.... woooopppssss, that is Charlie and Gwenny filling in for the real things!

Now it seems Gwenny was all tied up in the shrimp nets... these were here so you could see how the sea turtles can get out now, and not drown.

Mega Sea Turtle...

Gwenny was just running all around today yelling, "more fish, more fish"... so, here are pictures of a lot of the fish we saw today... you can just make up names for them as you look through, as I really don't know half of them, and was way too busy having fun with the kids to bother looking and reading.

Took all these pics today with my iPhone 5.

That is a Dolphin swimming above with the trainer. This Dolphin was rescued off the Florida Keys, with severe sunburn and other problems. They have saved this Dolphin, and have given him a permanent home at the Mote.

Gwenny really liked the big frog outside the Mote. Had a great day here... perfect Family activity.

Tom and I were out the door this morning at 8:00, and walked to the Gulf of Mexico. Chris, Kristina and the kids came down early to meet us, and let Gwenny pick some sea shells. Charlie was wrapped up as it was a bit cool first thing, but the sun was heading up!

Below, Chris was off on his skim board... braver than I would have been at 8:30 with the cooler air, but he said the Gulf Waters were warmer than the air so all was good. Hard to convince me of that though...

Gwenny now has enough to start selling her sea shells, by the sea shore.

Had a great day overall!

Thanks to Rick for letting me know that if you click on my Flickr Photos, they are not enlarging... will have to take a minute and take a look to see what is happening with that.

Till tomorrow...

  2. Terrific family activity filled with fun and learning.

I recall being able to brave cold waters when I was much younger....but....I could not do that today.

  5. That sure looked to be a fun day. I could tell from the pics how excited Gwenny was at seeing all the fish.

Charlie's still "too cool" to get all exited!
