A great day on the bikes...

We decided to go on another bike ride today with our new motorcycle group that we joined down in Sebring. Today's destination was Sarasota, over on the Gulf of Mexico. Terrific day for a ride.

We had close to 20 motorcycles and Trikes out today, and a usual we staged in the Subway Parking lot down in Sebring. We took about 2 1/2 hours to get over to Sarasota finding every nook and cranny back road there is in Florida! If you can imagine this... we actually rode by a couple orange trees! (Like 2 million of them!)

Of course, we ride to eat, and today being no exception, we stopped by at the Der Dutchman in Sarasota. I have never heard of this Franchise before... but what a great spot! It is a buffet Restaurant, or you can order off a full menu. Judy and I opted for the Salad Bar today, and it was a meal in itself! We were back at our resort, just after 5:30.

I had an interesting comment from Rick out West, on a recent blog I did about the Sponge, which got me thinking a bit...

Rick said, "Interesting story on the sponges. Now I'm wondering if sponges are an animal, plant, fish or what. Guess I'll have to go Google it now. "

Well, to my surprise when I googled it, they call it an animal!

Google says, "Sponges are animals of the phylum Porifera. They are multicellular organisms that have bodies full of pores and channels allowing water to circulate through them, consisting of jelly-like mesohyl sandwiched between two thin layers of cells." So there you go.

I don't think real sponges may be used as much now, as they were many years ago, what with the invention of microfibre cloths etc. Do you still use a sponge???? Let me know!

Till tomorrow...

  4. We do in fact have real sponges in our house at home. I wonder if this means I'll have to feed them now?
