Yes, the Eagle landed last night back in Tucson. I picked Judy up at about 10:00 p.m. and we headed back to our Resort! She had a great trip in Tennessee visiting the Hollingers.
Emmie has turned two and they had a bit of a party!
Looks like Shawn is trying to teach Emmie has to use "Wii Fit".....
Looks like Granny and Emmie had quite a time in Tennessee!
We woke up this morning and it was another great day in Arizona, and time for both of us to get back to work as "tourists"...... lots to do.
The bridges were not very wide either...
People walking out and back had to cross the bridges as well, and ended up with shoes off, or wet feet!
This pic shows how much water was going across the road....
This is the end of the road for the trams. We got off, had lunch, and then decided to take a hike up the end of the canyon. We hiked for over an hour and you are constantly climbing....huf...huf... you had to be in shape! but it was worth it!
It was a great hike, and the scenery was second to none.... Judy shot this one...
Of course it would not be Arizona if there were no saguaro cactus along the way, there was a pile of them....
I was starting to build a lead along the path.... Judy was muttering something about it is not the destination, it is the trip along the way.... or something like that....????
Great views....
There.... now she has the lead.....
There was every type of cactus in the book here!
As you hike along, all of a sudden you see something like this..... the only one for miles....
It was a long way down behind those rocks.... good thing she didn't look!
Looking back up the canyon, as we climbed higher....
More great views....
Now this is a real nice looking "Teddy Bear Choela Cactus".....
......and yes, the Teddy Bear can bite! Judy had already pulled out about 5 barbs.... yes, they hurt! Problem is, there is also a bunch of little wee barbs you can hardly see with your eye to go along with the big ones, and you need tweezers pretty much to get them all out.
we made a stop along the river on the way back, and you can see what they call the "painted rock" along the river bed....
They were kind of cool....
And one last picture for Kristina, for her sign collection....
Just a great day, and it was not over...
Tonight Judy got tickets for the show put on in the Resort. The "Alley Cats" were performing. They have played for a U.S. President, and have been together for 25 years. They are a premier "Du Whop" group. They sing sons from the 50's acapello. They were great and had a comedy routine to go with the singing. There were composed of 1 American, 2 Mexicans, and a Canadian, so that made for many a funny joke!
Till tomorrow.....
I love Sabino Canyon. Great post. I know I'm reading your old stuff, but I'll catch up soon. Oh, to get cactus quills out of your arm, apply Elmer's glue on your skin. Let it dry until it's clear and then pull it off.
