Yes, we celebrated New Years Eve, “Caliente Style”… Here is how it works everyone! You BBQ up your steaks around 7:30, and enjoy your dinner till about 8:30, and then as it get close to 9:00 p.m. you turn on NBC’s Dick Clarke New Years Eve Ball Drop from New York City, along with Ryan Seacrest, and you celebrate the new year at 9:00 p.m. our time! Perfect! By 10:00 you are in bed sound asleep and all is good for another year!
Here we are heading out the Dillon Road, checking out the Indio Hills…
We all decided a small hike was in order for the New Year, so we headed to 1,000 Palms Oasis! What a spot to celebrate the new year.
Tom and Cheryl were admiring the Christmas Decorations…
Check out Rudolph…
I made Tom and Cheryl pose by the San Andreas Fault Sign, as that is the touristy thing to do!
Most of you have seen all these type of pictures from this place before, but it is still quite the place to visit, and it was nice and cool here, as the sun was blazing today and it was in the 80’s for sure!
We took the 1 mile hike out to the west Oasis, and what a place to visit, with the nice pond and cool temperatures in the Oasis!
We found this Palm Tree below, all hollowed out like a little tent…
The Palm Trees here all have the nice long skirts to them… what a place, it never grows old.
This picture of Mount Jacinto also never grows old… this is along the Dillon Road, on the way back to Caliente Springs…
Lots of relaxing took place to start the new year.
Tom and Cheryl are back to Toronto tomorrow… (they are not happy about that…)
Till tomorrow…
We did the exact same thing you did. Watched the New York Times Square new year festivities, went home and to bed! Works for us! Besides, New York is the same time zone as Ontario!!
