Tribute to an "American Hero"

Tonight's blog is in tribute to a young American Marine, "Grant" who just came home from Afghanistan on Tuesday of this week, after a 7 month tour. He told me he had been involved in some very bad fighting with the Taliban and he was quite glad to be home. He serves at the U.S. Marine base, on Coronado Island, Amphibious Division. His Wife, "Angel" had made up this banner in the picture below and strung it on the front of their 5th Wheel Trailer, which is right across the road from our unit. I met him tonight as he was trying to start his motorcycle that had not been going since he left on tour, and had a dead battery. He got a new battery, and the bike started up with little problem. He is only about 25 years old, and his Wife seemed to be REAL happy that he was back home on U.S. soil! He tells me he will have the next month off work to relax, and then back to work! He is a very brave young man!

This afternoon this cat came around, and I thought he was hungry, but was just looking for someone to pet him...

Now these two guys were hungry! I was feeding them some of Patra's IAMs pet food, and they were just going crazy over it....

It was a great morning, with lots of sun and warm temps, as we took a walk around the park. Here are some of the toys you can rent and go play out on the bay...

There is a full service marina inside this RV Park!

Yes, you can even rent the party boat and go on a tour...

Here is a fancy fountain down by the front office...

We jumped on the bikes and rode down to the "Old Town" San Diego. This is a real neat part of Town that is there for the tourist. I remembered this area from when we were here with the Morrison's and took the Old Town Trolly Tour of San Diego. There are some real expensive homes in this area as well...

The whole area is based on the Mexican theme... remember, we are right at the Mexican Border.
There are lots of Mexican type shops and wares for sale...

These are the Old Town Trolleys that we took back in January...

It is a very neat area, lots to see and do.

Neat architecture of a local Catholic Church...

If you happen to be looking for a wind chime, this is the place for you....
Lots of wind chimes...
We came across the original Court House of San Diego, and this was their holding cell, it is all made of heavy gauge steel.... I tried to get Judy to go inside, but the party pooper wouldn't...
They have restored a lot of the old buildings, including this Wells Fargo store, that is still operating...

This is one of their stage coaches....There are lots of restaurants and various stores...
The three Amigo's...

We made it back in time to hit the hot tub tonight where we met a couple that live about an hour and a half east of here up in the mountains.... about the same spot we just came from. They have come here for a few days to help out with a charity motorcycle ride to be held in the Resort this coming Saturday, in support of Abused Children.
Till tomorrow...
