What a difference 61 Miles can make... it is SUMMER Again!

We woke up this morning, hoping to ride the bikes over to San Diego, but, once again our plans were foiled as it was real windy and cool.... we had coffee and talked a bit, and then I just snapped and lost it... and I said..."That's it... we are out of here... we are going to San Diego with the big wheels...." We found a campsite and got them on the phone, and they said "yes, there is room for you..." so within 45 minutes, we had packed up our wheels and were rolling west to Sand Diego! This is the best part of RVing... if you don't like it where you are, you can simply change it!
It was a 61 mile drive to San Diego, taking the back roads... and WHAT A RIDE! One of the nicest rides we have taken.... right through the mountains... beautiful.... check out this first picture tonight, these people built their home right on this little mountain at the top... is it ever cool...

This next picture gives you an excellent idea of what type of ride we had today in the big wheels... very nice, lots of twists and turns... and all downhill to San Diego. We dropped over 3,700 feet in elevation, and tonight we are less than 100 feet above sea level. As soon a we dropped the elevation today, the temperature went up... it must have been over 80 degrees today F. When we passed through San Diego, it was so warm we had to turn the air conditioning on in the RV. YES!

Check out this next picture... as we drove to San Diego, we came within a 1/4 mile of the Mexican Border, and you can see the Fence between Mexico and the U.S. up on the hill in the left of the picture... there was all kinds of border patrol vehicles around this area... they catch a lot of Mexicans trying to cross into the U.S. here, and also catch lots of drugs people try to smuggle into the Country....

As we got closer to San Diego we ran into more traffic...

We hit our campground around 2:00 p.m. after an hour and 1/2 visit to a Wallmart for supplies, and they gave us a list of campsites available, so we walked through the campground shopping for a site.... yup, that is me you see leaving Judy in the dust....

This is an incredible Resort right on this nice bay, which is just off of the Pacific Ocean!

We were all set up by 3:30 and I was just getting ready to catch tonight Battle of Ontario, between my Leafs and the Senators on XM Satellite Radio... it was so nice to sit outside and listen to the game.... even better when the Leafs whip them 4 to 1....

While I was baby sitting the Leafs, Judy walked around the park and played photographer....

It was warm in the RV and the sun was coming in, and Patra just couldn't take it any more, and just chilled out... she was one happy cat....

If you have a big enough limit on your VISA you get to camp right beside the bay! We are camped about 1 block off the bay...

Judy said these flowers are called "Birds of Paradise...."

They have a terrific beach just up from our site... as you read this blog on Tuesday Morning, picture in your head, Judy and I sitting right here having our coffee!

They also have a Marina as part of this Resort... you can rent boats here if you want... if you have enough money, you can do just about whatever you want here.... there is a full restaurant inside the park with a bar... 2 pools, 2 hot tubs.... you name it, they have it...

This is the front office area, we have booked in here for a week, hopefully we won't have to declare bankruptcy while we are here!

Judy was all charged up as we were walking through the park looking for a site, and we walked down "Mallard Landing".... and one of these guys was walking right up the middle of the road towards us....

Swimming anybody????

Restaurant and Bar area, with a patio of course....

This is a recreation area for everyone's use...

This place is great, we are only a couple miles north of the Downtown area. If you remember, back in January we came to San Diego with the Morrisons for 2 days, and we loved it so much, that is why we are back here now, and the fact it is real nice and warm...

Tomorrow we plan on doing some bike riding up the PCH... (Pacific Coast Highway)

Yes, we are happy campers tonight!

Till tomorrow....
