Let's do the "Jail House Rock!"

You would think that after all the years that Judy has worked for Corrections Canada, the last place on earth she would want to visit is another jail! Well, there we were on Sunday, touring the Yuma Historic Prison! The temperatures are starting to get warmer it seems every day, and Sunday was down right hot! Loved it!
We got to the Prison around 11:00 a.m. and had to get the first pic of the day in...
The Prison was sponsoring a "Gathering of the Gunfighters" conference this weekend, so that is why we decided to wait this long to go. They have a bunch of different troupes come in, and do re-enactments inside the prison. They win awards for costumes, and for the skits. It was pretty fun to watch.

This was the main observation tower for the prison, where the guards watched the prisoners...

This is a model of the prison...

Judy told me these cells were just like the ones in Fenbrook Institution today!

It was a lovely looking place, somewhere you want to stay for a while....

If you can't do the crime.....don't do the crime, so the saying goes....

A big row of cells, I think they could house over 200 criminals at one time...
A movie was made here, can't remember which one, but the actors were short, so they actually lowered the top sill of this door to make the actors look bigger..... whatever.....

We enjoyed a nice lunch after walking around the prison, and then the fun started! Here is one of the troupes posing for the cameras...

They had an "old west" stage set up for the actors...

The set if fake, but yes, that is a real cactus in the background...

This guy was simply looking for trouble...

This couple were posing for a "family picture"....

All of sudden a big fight broke out over next to nuthin......

People were starting to get hurt!

Things were starting to get out of hand....

And then the guns came out, and the shooting started.... there were bodies everywhere....

It started to get ugly!

This guy was left holding the smoking gun...

But in the end.... the women won out! The got them all!

During our tour, Judy and I couldn't figure out if this was the Electric Chair, or a Barber's Chair?

After everyone was shot at the prison, we still had some time to shop in the open market in "Downtown Old Yuma". It was a lot of fun, they had great homemade fresh lemonade!

We came across these two tourists taking in the ice cream and some sun....there was lots of it!

Was a great day overall, we all enjoyed!

Today John and I were out and about in the morning doing a mini tour of Yuma, and we stopped into the local John Deere Dealership as John wanted to talk "farm talk" with the guys. We met one of the salesmen who was real good answering a whole bunch of questions! Thanks John Deere!

This afternoon we all attended the "Horse Races" at the resort, the same ones I reported on last month, which ends up in a great steak dinner! No pics for today....

Till tomorrow....
