Biking with Gordon…

Gordon Lightfoot is a very well know singer, who is probably most famous for his song of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald.   Today Judy and I drove our Jeep down to Orillia and mounted our bicycles on the new bike rack  that I recently installed.  The plan was to ride The Gordon Lightfoot Trail.

The trail follows the shoreline of Lake Couchiching, starting from the Park downtown, and we rode all the way out to the Narrows at Atherly.  It was a great day for a bike ride.  I have just unloaded the bikes from the Jeep here…

We are off…

These kids were fishing along the trail, and were out in the water up to their waist doing so… very dedicated!

The trail is paved the whole way, probably about 6 klms.

Judy wants Kristina and Chris to visit again, this time with their roller blades and Cali.  It is a great spot for the dogs to run.

I think they are building some sort of water park in the area below.

These two guys were fishing at the narrows and caught the bass, including that big one!

DSCN4684 There was a lot of boat traffic through the Narrows today, the narrows joins up Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe.  It is an easy ride by boat to get from Orillia right down to Barrie.

Lots of Canada Geese live in the area…

Lots of boats…

Time to start heading back… it was a dark sky this afternoon, but the rain stayed away!  Many thanks go to the Kiwanis Club of Orillia for helping to fund this bike/roller blade/walking trail.  There can be no greater way to show off your waterfront.  There was lots of people down enjoying the day at the beach and all through the park, it was nice to see!

DSCN4673   It was party time back at the Marina in the Park.  There was a guy playing his guitar and singing on the boat tied to the dock in the fore ground…

We had a great time on the bikes, and then we headed up to Mom’s apartment and had a visit with her for a while.

We headed back home for dinner, and then I got ambitious and installed our 2 new blinds in the bedroom…. pictures tomorrow.

Up early tomorrow to meet with our Scotia McLeod Financial Planner to see if we have any money left… here is hoping!

Till tomorrow…
