We were up and on the motorcycles at 7:15 this morning, yes that is right… 7:15 heading towards Midland to participate in Georgian Bay Thunder, which is a charity ride in support of Volunteer Drivers in North Simcoe County who volunteer time to drive people to medical appointments etc. that do not have or can afford transportation.
It was a beautiful day, lots of sun and warm. We travelled with Dave and Angela and met many new friends along the way, and some old ones as well. Here is registration desk…
Here the bikes are starting to gather at Jack and Jill Motorcycles in Midland…
“Looks like dog _ _ _ _ to me too!”
One of the first stops an hour into the ride was at Awenda Provincial Park on Georgian Bay.
I found this 1975 Honda Goldwing and talked to the owner for 15 minutes… I used to have a 1977 model…(for 10 years!) great bike.
We had massive support from the OPP who blocked all the intersections for the 100 motorcycles on the tour.
David the terminator…
The beach will never be the same again…
Now this is a nice bike, probably made in the 1960’s, this is a 750 Norton Comando that was made in England.
Dave and Angela’s friend, Nelson who has the same 750 Honda Aero that I do…
Lots of people in the park today…
Lots of kids swimming…
Dave and Angela hit the beach…
I liked the ride so much I bought the shirt…
After the 135 klicks you need to eat!
Some guy owned this fancy NYPD BBQ and made us supper.
That’s him in the fire uniform…he used a Hummer to pull the thing.
Nothing like some entertainment after you eat, and this guy was swooning Angela, actually he was not a bad singer…
There was lots to eat…
We had the safest table in the crowd!
We headed for home around 4:00, and decided to drive back through Port Carling in beautiful Muskoka for ice cream. While we were there, we stopped by to check out the Scotiabank, as Angela just received a promotion from the Bank, and will become the Manager next week of this Branch Office. It is about a 25 minute drive from Bracebridge.
All in all just a great day! Don’t know how much money they raised, but they should have done all right.
Heading to NY tomorrow…
Till tomorrow….
John & Judy,
ReplyDeleteI am one of the event coordinators for the Georgian Bay Thunder. I was searching to find articles on our ride and came across your blog. I wanted to thank you for joining us this year and participating in our 2nd Annual Georgian Bay Thunder Motorcycle Ride. We had a very successful ride this year raising $7,324 for our volunteer transporation program. This goal would not have been possible without your participation. I see by your blog and pictures that you enjoyed yourselves. I hope this means that you will be able to join us again next year. If you are interested, you can join our Facebook group to follow details on next years ride as they become available here is the link: http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=73515470406
I enjoyed reading your thoughts on our event and hope to see you again next year.
All the best to you!
