A bit of help for our Troops!

Another gorgeous day here in Muskoka.   It is the annual sidewalk sale downtown Gravenhurst so the main street is closed off, and today the whole place was crowded with many a tourist!  All of them looking for somewhere to leave their money!

I went down to our local Sobey’s Grocery Store this afternoon, to help BBQ some sausage and hot dogs in support of our Troops fighting in Afghanistan.  Bob from our motorcycle riding club is very active in our local Legion, and they were helping Sobeys with the BBQ and getting people to sign a hugh banner that will be sent to Afghanistan to the troops.  All money raised from the BBq will also go directly to the troops.  Sobey’s donated all the food used!  They are doing this right across Ontario from what I hear.  We were really busy all afternoon, and quite a bit of money was raised in Gravenhurst alone today!

Now this next part of the blog is a little on the technical side of things tonight.  If you recall  back to my recent trip to Ellicottville, to go to the AVA rally, my roommate Jim C. from Gravenhurst, had his Gold Wing that run into problems with a burned out stator… it had to be towed back home.  Jim is now in the process of doing a retro fit to the Gold Wing, in the form of adding an alternator to take the place of the stator.  It is what ends up providing power for the bike to run, and re-charge the battery.

You can see how he has added it here in this picture.  It will eventually be covered by the lower fairings and will not be seen.

This is a big job, and I think Jim had done real good in getting it to fit.  About another week and he hopes to have it on the road again… here is hoping Jim!

This picture sure makes the whole process look a little complicated!

This evening Judy and I went to the Movies in Orillia, to watch the new movie out by Julia Roberts, Eat,Pray,Love.   It was very well done we enjoyed watching it.  Judy had read the book, and said there were quite a few differences.

Looks like rain in the works for tomorrow Sad smile

Getting one step closer to Judy’s retirement!

Hum drum day today with lots of rain here in Muskoka to keep everything nice and green…

Did some maintenance items on the RV this afternoon, not too much exciting… best part of the day was a nice conversation with Kristina down in Woodstock.  She was working today on her transcription stuff, but I caught her at lunch time and we had a good talk.

Judy was down in Kingston all day just getting one more step closer to retirement.  She signed up all her papers for her pension and benefits for after she leaves the Federal Government.  Lots of different decisions to make, but she is getting there!

October is coming closer, and soon will be time to head south again!

That was about it for today,

till tomorrow…

Under the weather day…

Woke up this morning a little under the weather with a booming headache, and basically no energy.  Took Judy off to the prison and spent the rest of the day not doing a whole lot.

Felt better after dinner tonight, so decided to go into bike night at Muskoka Wharf.  Judy is down in Kingston tonight on Prison business so headed of by myself.

Nice night equals nice turn out for bike night…

A guy from Bracebridge owns this totally custom machine… big bucks!

Just about every Wednesday night, the OPP have one of their Officers come down and mingle with the crowd.   They always bring one of their machines down!

One of my friends traded this Harley a year ago, on a brand new Harley. He never was real happy with his new Harley, so why not trade it in a year later and get your old bike back that the dealership couldn’t sell.

Lots going on at the Wharf tonight, with the firefighters practicing their bagpipe band…

The boats were busy as usual…

Two guys flew into the Wharf with this brand new aircraft.   It had some special warning on one of the doors, about it being a special approved experimental prototype plane… not sure what that was all about…

Lots of nice sunsets in Muskoka…

Every Wednesday night there is a boat and water ski show put on by Boston Pizza…. they were right into it tonight.

They had a big banner, which is going to be shipped over to Afghanistan, in support of our troops who are over fighting for freedom.  Our local Sobeys will put on a BBQ this Friday and raise money to go with the banner. Apparently they do this every year, and raise a substantial amount of money for the troops.
