Time for a little “Cosmic Adventure”…

This morning we met up with Jenn’s Mom, Andrea, who is staying in Ottawa for a few days, and we decided to take the kids over to catch a little “Cosmic Adventure” in Ottawa.  Shawn and Jenn both had to work today, so the Grand Parents were in charge… that is a good thing if you are a kid!

Cosmic Adventure is an overgrown playground for kids… What a setup!  It is three storey high, and as you can see, full of ladders, ropes, swings, slides, just about anything you can think of…

Little Paige just loves climbing up all the things, and sliding back down… she could do this all day!

There are space tubes, and everything…

This big old slide was a hit below…

There was quite a few kids out today, but the place is BIG!

Andrea is covering Emmie in balls below… kids loves this stuff…

100_1774

Emmie was caught playing in the tree house… We spent a few hours playing, and enjoyed a nice lunch right on the premises.  They never had anything like this when I was a kid.

Of course, this evening was Halloween, so first to get on a costume was Super Dexter!  Somehow our camera developed a big black spot 1/2 way through the day today… go figure… I tried and tried to get it off… turned out to be some kind of dirt on the inside of the camera I think????  It is gone now, but messed up a bunch of our pictures…

100_1781

Paige was dressed up as Tinker Bell…

100_1784

Emmie was dressed up as Snow White… they were all set to go!

100_1787

Here is the whole Hollinger Gang.   It was a perfect night here for trick or treating.  A good time was had by all.  We even had the nerve to enter some haunted houses along the way.  Some people went a little over board with the decorations, it was great!

It was hard to say goodbye to everyone at the end of the night.  We hit the road tomorrow morning bright and early for the South West U.S.A.

Should be good weather tomorrow for driving.

Not sure where we will end up tomorrow, however,

Till tomorrow…

A pretty full day today was…

We started off going to visit all the kids at about 10:00 this morning… we were on a mission and that was to go to one of the local malls and take in the free “My Little Pony Show”!  Why not!  Emmie is trying to stake out a good spot below…

100_1701

Quote a crowd had gathered to take in the show…

100_1706

Finally the star of the show shows up!

100_1707

It was a pretty good show and the kids all enjoyed it!

100_1712

We were back home in the afternoon in time to rake up a few leaves, and have some fun in them…

Nothing better than a day with the kids… had to have one last swing for the year… maybe more yet!

100_1737

Of course tomorrow being the big day, we had to carve up the pumpkins… We had a few extra thanks to Peter and Marion from the farm.

100_1744

Everybody got their hand into it…

100_1747

Emmie is hanging onto the one I did… her Dad, the Dr. is showing everyone his skill in surgery… I just closed my eyes and hoped he still had 10 fingers when he was finished… he did!

100_1749

Just a great busy day in Ottawa for sure, with the big day for the kids on tap for tomorrow…

Till tomorrow…

We have landed in Ottawa…

We were up bright and early this morning on the farm in Mallorytown and it was –2 degrees C.  Brrrrr…

Check the frost on the grass this morning, note Peter’s garden all cleaned up for next year.

100_1675

Everything was coated in frost this morning…

100_1676

Turned out to be a great day, just a little cool… love the old barn shots…

100_1679

Peter had a bunch of pumpkins growing in his patch… gave us a bunch for Emmie and Paige in Ottawa!  Thanks Peter!

100_1680

Peter is in the centre, and my Mother’s brother, my Uncle Art on the right… 91 years young and doing just great!

100_1683

Thanks again to Peter and Marion, and my cousin Sue for hosting us overnight… and a great supper, and a great breakfast to get us on the road!  We enjoyed, and we will be back!

Below is where we landed in Ottawa.  This park is only 10 minutes from Shawn and Jenn’s place, and is right in the middle of Ottawa… a great location.

100_1685

We no sooner landed and had to head off to watch Emmie go to her skating lessons at a local Ottawa rink.  She was dressed as a pink poodle as it was Halloween!

100_1689

Jenn was out on the ice with Emmie helping out… it is a great place for Emmie to learn how to skate, and Judy and I really enjoyed watching her go!

100_1691

Our Son, Shawn, had to work at the Hospital in Ottawa today, on a 24 hour shift…yikes!   It is good to know he is helping out very small babies that need his help and his skill.

100_1692

Emmie really enjoys skating, and was very hungry afterwards, so we all went to St. Hubert Chicken for a great Chicken Dinner.

100_1694

Big plans for tomorrow, so stay tuned.

A big welcome goes out tonight to our newest blog followers, Alan and Lolita!  Welcome to the ride, we are just leaving Town now…

Till tomorrow…

On the road again…

Augh… yes, feels good to be on the road again.  Could not blog last night as we were in Seagrave, Ontario, and it is like going back in time there… no cell phone service, and no high speed internet of any kind there… go figure.   We did not take the time to put up the satellite internet, as we were way too busy talking, catching up, and eating with Howard and Terri.  After we got there in the afternoon, Howard was home, and wanted to take us for a spin in his 1915 Model T.

Our motorcycle trailer got left behind yesterday as we vacated our spot for the winter…

100_1650

Below we are all hooked up and ready to roll…

100_1652

Before we could get the Model T out of the garage, Howard had to move his 1949 DeSoto out of the way… it is in good shape!

100_1657

Howard and Terri enjoy touring with the Car Club they are members of… during the summer of course!

100_1659

Our 36 foot long Endura fit very nice into the big drive way, with room for some Jeep’s to boot…

100_1661

Here is the Model T inside the garage.  Looking to the left above the T is another DeSoto Convertible on the upper ramp inside the garage awaiting restoration.

100_1662

And if I remember right, this is an old Valliant below needing some work…  yes, Howard likes his old cars!

100_1663

Augh… here comes Howard with Judy riding shotgun out of the garage.  It was only about 1 deg. C. so it was real cool riding the T yesterday… note there are no doors or windows… I asked Howard to turn on the heat, but he only mumbled…

100_1667

I had to watch to make sure Howard did not run the Model T into the side of the Endura!  The Model T has a 21 hp. motor, and is capable of hitting 45 mph.  He bought in in California recently, just north of L.A. in Bakersfield and had it trucked back to Ontario.  Had I known that, I would have drove it back last spring!

100_1668

Yup, as you can tell below, I got the back seat!

100_1669

After our ride around Seagrave, Howard and Terri whipped up a great Turkey “Thanksmas Dinner” for us.

100_1670

Check out the bird below… yum!

100_1671

I tried to get the Chef to take a bow in the picture below, however he was a little reluctant!  Kept mumbling something about “People with blogs…”

100_1672

A great fall view out the back door…

100_1673

All in all, just a great visit in Seagrave… we were up early with Howard making up a load of waffles for us this morning before we hit the road for Mallorytown.  Turned out to be about 6 1/2 hours when we did arrive this afternoon on the farm.  Cousin Marion had a great dinner waiting for us again tonight, with home made apple pie!  Putting on the weight now!

Off to Ottawa tomorrow… going down to –8 C. on the farm here tonight!  Brrrrrr………

Till tomorrow…

Time to hit the road…

The first picture shows you what type of day we had here in Ontario today…

rain

It was cool, and got cooler as the day went on… not much fun.  We spent the morning preparing to leave tomorrow morning.  I did a bunch of work outside, while Judy worked inside on cleaning and laundry.  We have our plans now set for this weekend and are set to go.  First we will head out tomorrow and stop at Seagrave, Ontario, about a 2 1/2 hour drive for us, and visit with Judy’s Brother Howard, and his Wife Terri.  Will spend the night.  Friday will take us to Mallory Town, Ontario, to visit my cousin Marion, and her Husband Peter… they have been hanging on to a couple of our lawn chairs for us all summer!  Saturday, we will head a bit north, up to Ottawa, our Nation’s Capital to visit with Shawn, Jenn, Emmie and Paige for the weekend.  Will take in Halloween as well… should be fun. After that, we will be heading probably towards New Mexico!  We have a few fun things planned along the way.  The ultimate destination of course will be Desert Hot Springs, in California.

Yesterday we installed our moto tote so we can carry Judy’s motorcycle with us again this winter… they are a neat devise, and look like this…

moto tote

This is a sample picture of one, but you get the drift… it fits the back of our Jeep and easily carries the 450 lb. Burgman.

We will sure miss playing with Gwenny, Paige, and Emmie over the next few months… it has been fun watching little Gwenny grow over the past 3 months…

100_1644

100_1646

We visited with Chris and Kristina tonight for a goodbye dinner of lasagne that Judy cooked up!  It was excellent…

Here we are relaxing after dinner, while I am putting a blog together.

100_1648

Cali was getting a nice rest watching us… did not get a chance to walk her today.  Walked her quite a bit over the summer, and will miss her in the desert!

100_1649

Now it is time to hit the road… we look forward to our winter travels.  Will be fun to see our other Grand Daughters this weekend, along with their Mom and Dad!

Not sure if I will be able to post a blog tomorrow night, but will try.  Depends on internet availability.

Till tomorrow…
