Just another day off…

I have  been feeling very road weary the past while, probably due to extensive road trips we have recently taken, so today was a simple day off!

Spent this morning going over a bunch of blogs that I have neglected for the past few days being away.  Judy spent last night taking care of Gwenny, to give Mom a break.  Nice to have an easy morning.

Next month is my birthday, so everyone should know what that means… you licence stickers are due! Don’t know how other places do this, but in Ontario everything is due on your birthday! This year I have three due, my motorcycle, my Jeep, and the Motorhome!  Also my Driver’s Licence is due… all on my birthday!  It only came to just under $290.00!  Happy Birthday!

After giving the Government all my money, I thought a nice easy walk with Cali over at the dog park would calm my nerves… here is a real blurry picture, as this dog never sits still for any cell phone!  Don’t you just love how dogs love you!  I have neglected Cali for the past month, as we have been away on trips and everything else.  Took her out today, and she was jumping for joy like a little kid going out to play… all was forgiven!

Cali

Spent the afternoon chilling out at the RV… with Patra of course… she enjoys her “outside” time as much as anybody, but does not walk good on a leash!  She did not jump around like a little kid, all I got from her was a look of “where have you been…”

Patra

Gwenny came out to visit this afternoon.   She was very interested in “eating”, and lots of “sleeping”… and did lots of both!

For anybody into computers, you have to go to Rick’s blog from yesterday…  Rick & Paulette's RV Travels and check out the great book for computer stuff that he is offering free!  Awesome… thanks Rick, I downloaded my copy!

Till tomorrow…

Manitoulin Island… Heaven on Earth!

Well, I am finally back in the world of cell phones, and internet, as we returned from our motorcycle trip up to Manitoulin Island.  We had a great time to say the least!  We had good weather overall, other than a bit of rain on Sunday Morning.

We left Gravenhurst on Friday morning with 6 motorcycles, heading for the Island.  It was about a 6 hour drive after we stopped to eat along the way.

It is hard to take pictures while we are driving, but we got stopped at the swing bridge heading onto the Island at Little Current.

The bridge swings to let the boats through into the north channel of Lake Huron.

Our group arrives at Silver Birch Resort…

The Camp is located on Honora Bay, and has a commanding view of the Bay… forget your cell phone and computer while you are here!  Hello nature!

100_1049

We spent two great nights around our campfire…

100_1055

On Friday night we enjoyed a great dinner downtown Little Current, keeping all the locals awake with our rolling thunder!

100_1058

Took a walk down by the docks after dinner, noting not very many boats tied up for the night… tourism is a big thing on the Island and seemed to be at a big time low… not very many Americans here this year…

100_1060

All day Saturday was spent touring the Island… we had a great day with no rain!  Below is Bridal Veil Falls, a very popular spot.   This year however, there was hardly any water going over the falls, it is usually much faster flowing…

100_1070

We stopped for lunch as a small restaurant, and came across this beaver… he was hungry too!

100_1082

When you are out on a Tour with our group, you are never going to be hungry… we ride and we eat!

Enjoying the view at 10 mile point… this is the east side of the Island…

100_1094

We ended up on Saturday with a group of 11 people on 8 motorcycles, and we all got together for our group picture, with the help of a guy driving by…

100_1098

On Sunday, the group headed home, via Little Current back to Gravenhurst.  Judy and I, along with Murray and Linda, from Paisley, Ontario, headed for the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry.  It leaves from South Bay Mouth and crosses over to Tobermory, on the upper end of the Bruce Peninsula.  It saves about 8 hours of driving around.  Here is Judy and Linda pretending that they are tuff bikers…

100_1102

This is what they were waiting for… the Chi-Cheemaun.  Very impressive ship that can hold 150 cars.  It also carries, RV’s, transport trucks, anything that can drive on and fit, and has money to pay!  It cost Judy and I $89.50 for the passage.  It is a 1 1/2 hour ride on the boat.  Of course you can eat on board!

100_1107

While waiting for the ship, these two guys landed the rainbow trout!  There is a limit of 2 trout a day for fisher people.

100_1111

Forgot to mention the ship also has room for 20 motorcycles!  It was full… here they are loading below

100_1113

One thing about getting on the boat with a motorcycle, you are first on, and first off!  Judy and Lynda supervise Murray and I as we tie the bikes down for the crossing.

100_1114

It was only a little over a hour drive once we got off the boat to hit Sauble Beach, and stayed with Debbie and Gerard at the cottage… thanks guys!  We appreciated the stay and great food!

This morning we left the cottage, and made it back to Woodstock.  Had to go and have dinner with Gwenny and her parents, you know!

Overall, just a great trip to Manitoulin, that I would recommend to anyone to make!

Till tomorrow…

Ready, set, goooooooo…….

Today was simply another beautiful day here in paradise… we must live right here in Ontario this summer or something… it has been great, and is not over yet!

Today was a get ready day.  Judy and I are leaving tomorrow morning on a 4 day motorcycle tour with a bunch of our friends from Gravenhurst… 6 couples and a few singles, will be leaving for a trip up to Manitoulin Island, which sits in the north end of  Georgian Bay, which is a major bay of Lake Huron. We have been there many times, but it never gets old. Blogs might be a little weak over the next few days, as I do not think there will be much internet up there, so I might just  be on the smart phone, if there is coverage!  We will see.  Don’t be alarmed if you do not see a new post for a few days, and we plan to be back next Monday for sure.

Today I spent the day doing regular maintenance on our motorcycles to ensure they are in great shape for the trip… check the oil, check the tires, lots of cleaning… they are ready!

I never took a picture today, however I borrowed the pictures off of Amy’s camera… she the one being from Edmonton!

Hmmmm, her camera seems to be on Gwenny overdose!

I was laughing at the picture below that I found on the camera… I guess out in Edmonton, they do not have live bait machines…

They all enjoyed breakfast out at a nice restaurant, Dean Michaels, in Woodstock.  From what they tell me, Gwenny was great during breakfast, mainly sleeping…

We all sat around the RV tonight, enjoying a Pizza dinner supplied by Amy and Jason… thanks guys!

Gwenny was full of polka dots today…

Patra looked a little bummed out today, but actually, she was just on bird watch.

Everyone left me while I was typing the blog and went down to the pool for a swim, so I thing I will join them all!

Till tomorrow…
