We were on the road by 10:00 a.m. this morning, after we had breakfast, and made up a mess of egg salad sandwiches. We had an agenda!
First off, we stopped at Camping World, just outside Lake Wales to pick up a set of tire guards for our Car Dolly. However, I already know we picked up the wrong size, they are too small, so back to Camping World we go, before the sun here in Florida melts our Dolly Tires into a big black blob.
We headed north after Camping World, up to Lakeland, as we wanted to do a bit of biking... at the Circle B Ranch! One of our favs! We have been to this place many times before, but it never gets old as we like to say... this place is amazing and always fun.
As always, there are all kinds of Florida water birds... this is one of the premier spots in the entire State of Florida to watch these birds... they are all here.
Yes, that is a very large Bald Headed Eagle's nest you can see in that tree, and the Eagle had just landed... just too far for a good picture with my iPhone 5.
We would not be in Florida, if we did not see a few Gators! This was just a small 6 footer.. piece of cake!
This is an Anlinga above... I like to call it the Batman Bird, as they have no oil on their wings, so they have to spread them to dry them off after diving below water.
They are an awesome bird, and fun to watch... if you get too close they fly away...
We have been out on this board walk many times over Lake Hancock... the trail was busy today...
There is no end to the wildlife you can see in this preserve... I shot a few video clips if you have time to check them out, they are all smaller videos, so won't chew up your internet too much...
We came across this entire family of racoons on the trail today... they were having a ball...
Judy spotted this armadillo above... all they ever seem to do is root for food, as this one is doing...
This Reserve is full of very old Oak Trees, and they are loaded to the gills with Spanish Moss... that is the stuff that just seems to hang off all the trees around here... you can see it in the videos above...
After we finished up at the preserve, we headed further north to Auburndale and took in the Market up there... however my iPhone seemed to get stuck in my pocket, so no pictures... next time I guess.
You also won't see the Dairy Queen that we stopped at in Winter Haven, as I was way too busy eating an ice cream cone to take any pictures!
Busy day...till tomorrow...
Out and about just enjoy the great weather, and a DQ to wind down with.
