Live… from Tennessee… RVlifeonwheels blog!

Yes, I am back on the blog, and living in Tennessee!  I thought it was hot back up in Muskoka…ha, you should see down here!

Made it down about 5:30 on Tuesday afternoon in Shawn and Jenn’s driveway!  Just in time for Jenn to made me a nice pizza for dinner!

Of course it was great to see the kids!

Took this at the Pennsylvania  welcome centre.

I did not know the Declaration of Independence was kept in this state!

Check this out… it is an American “Loonie”…   They give these out for change at a pop machine, and are just starting to go into circulation.

It was hot in Tennesse when I got to the house, and the kids went for a swim after supper… here is Emmie.

At noon today, we made it to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area, which was all made for the tourist!

We went up the mountain at Gatlinburg on the Gondola Car, it was a blast.

At the top of the mountain, the first thing we did was go Skating, yes, skating in Tennessee… here is Emmie all set to go for the 1st time in her life!

Here is Shawn and Emmie out on on the ice… yes, we all wore our shorts and t-shirts out skating, it was warm.

She went for a ride in a corvette…

We all took a ski lift up further on the mountain, and then jumped on a sled and slid down the mountain.  Shawn and Emmie and I were on the ski lift near the top of the mountain, and right below us a bear walked out of the bush and was looking around!  Did not have the camera handy, so you will just have to believe me…

When we finished all the rides, we jumped back on the Gondola for the ride back down… here is an ariel view of Gatlinburg.

Back home, baby Paige, is all set to go to bed after her bath, wearing her scrubs… what else would a Dr. Daughter wear to bed!

Overall, a very busy day.  We had a chance to explain it all to Judy via Skype conference call tonight.  We all had fun!    Tomorrow the pace will be a bit slower, with the Dr. having to go back to work at the Hospital.

Till tomorrow…

He is on the road!

Judy here. John wanted me to post an update so here I am doing my best.
John is in Pittsburgh at an Ecolodge tonight en route to Tennesse to see Shawn, Jenn and our wonderful grandaughters, Emmie and Paige. He said they have free wifi at his hotel but it doesn't work!
He left Gravenhurst this morning and toured through the clouds on his motorcycle and did not hit rain until the border where it poured. He said he was soaked right through but continued on and in about an hour he was bone dry again. Kind of like a wash and dry cycle I guess.
He arrived in Pittsburgh thinking it would be an easy task to find a hotel but got himself lost and was on reserve with no gas stations or hotels in sight. He finally found his way back out to the I-79 and found gas and a hotel. Phew! I think he was sweating it for awhile.
He called me around 9:00 p.m. and had found a nice supper and was starting to relax.
Meanwhile back in Gravenhurst I went to the laundramant to do the bedding and had to make my own supper! I miss John already!
I spent a leisurely evening after supper reading a final draft of our daughter Kristina's Master's paper. Wow, she is a smart cookie. Very interesting reading on patient/surgeon interactions but often way over my head.
It was a busy day at work today but I felt ready to face all the challenges after yesterday being a rainy day and therefore a very relaxing one. We slept in, did some Wii Fit, played scrabble, read and watched a movie.
Great news from the Morrison's tonight. They have booked a park model for two weeks at Caliente Springs where we are spending 3 months this winter. Can't wait!
Ta ta for now.

“Travel” is in the air….(again)

Just a short post tonight, travel is in the air…

What a day for rain!  It started at about 8:00 this morning and finally stopped around 6:00 tonight… at least it stayed real warm!

Yes, travel is in the air!  I was talking with Shawn and Jenn via skype tonight, and I have decided to load up my trusty Honda and head south tomorrow morning for Tennessee.  Shawn let me know he will be off on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, including next weekend so timing is good to be be able to see him.  He is a busy man working all kinds of hours at the Hospital as he completes his residency in Pediatrics.

I will be taking my computer with me on the trip, so will hopefully be able to keep up on posting while in Tennessee.  Stay tuned!  I hear it is still real hot down there… 90 plus degrees F. and will be for the next while.

I will only drive halfway tomorrow and stay somewhere overnight and complete the 14 hour trip on Tuesday.  Hopefully the hotel tomorrow night will have some Wi-Fi.

Till tomorrow…
