"We are leaving....on a Jet Plane"

The count down is on for us to return to the big freezer... (aka Canada)

 

Ottawa promises to be real cold when we get there, so hopefully Dr. Shawn has the heater on full blast in his car when he picks us up at the airport! There is even a promise of some snow for tomorrow... oh boy! Can't wait!

 

Our plane flies out of Orlando at 12:00 noon, and we should be standing at the Ottawa Airport somewhere around 5:30, after we stop and check out Washington D.C., to see if anyone is left there now that Obama is President again!

Today we spent a good part of the day getting packed up and ready to roll tomorrow. Part of the day was spent taking life easy, as it will be a hectic time up in Canada! Saturday afternoon is scheduled to be the big event of Emmie's Birthday Party, where I am told a real "Princess" will make an appearance! Keep your eyes open on the blog, as I have iPad, and will travel!

I took some stuff over to our storage trailer this afternoon, and ran into these two teradactles that were making all kinds of noise! I made sure I stayed clear of them!

Exercise day!

Well, not so much for me exercising, as it was time to exercise the Motorhome. We have been parked here in Florida since early November and the RV has just not moved a lot. So it takes quite a bit of work to pack everything up, and get the wheels ready to roll. I took a nice drive down by the Lake Wales area, and then headed back home to get set up again. Took a minute to grab 10 gallons of propane while I was out, that is all that we have used since we got here! That is how warm it has been here!

Seems Ontario is going through a real cold snap... it was -34 deg. C. up in our old home Town of Sudbury, and is about the same temperature in Ottawa... yikes... wait, that is where we fly to on Friday!

Even Gwenny was taken back by the cold weather in Woodstock, but she was ready for it!

While I was out exercising the RV, Judy went bowling with Carol at a local bowling alley.

Judy said there was over 50 lanes at this location, and it was full this afternoon.

 

Of course bowling is all computerized now, and lots of graphics on the screen. They had a blast!

Tonight Judy and I attended a Pot Luck Dinner in our Park. Yum!

Got a call from Judy's Brother, Howard today. Him and Terri are heading down to the Gulf Coast tomorrow... good timing to get away from bad weather... we will run into them next week when we return to Winter Haven.

Fort Fraser Trail System...can't believe we did the whole thing!

The other day when we were up in Lakeland buying baseball tickets, we came across the Fort Fraser Trail System... today, we decided to come back to it with the bicycles and "get to it!"

 

They had a nice parking lot at the trail head, perfect for off loading our 1 horse power machines!

Time to rock and roll...

Judy took a few of the pics tonight in the blog, and when I saw the one above, I thought I must have been drinking before we left on the trip! No! I was sober!

No, Fort Fraser is not standing anymore... but this trail is full of history of course, and a lot of it is explained to you as you make your way along the trail. Fort Fraser was built to protect the original settlers from the Seminol Indians, who of course, wanted to make the settlers "go away"...

There are a few bridges as you make your way... lots of vegitation as well. This trail starts in the City of Bartow, and goes north, along an old Railroad Line, 7.5 miles up to Lakeland. We went the 7.5 miles, and as our Jeep was not at the end of the trail, decided we had to ride the 7.5 miles back to where we parked! Yes, that makes 15 miles! My poor body!

 

There was plenty of rest areas along the trail, like the one above...

Half way up, we came across this great washroom facility, just in case!

We made it to the far end, where Polk State College is located, and as you can see, we were only 67 deg. F. today, however it was simply perfect for a long bike ride! There are many signs along the way, that keep you encouraged as you travel. One I liked, was a quote from F.D.R. It went like this, "when you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on!" Great stuff!

It took us 2 hours and 40 minutes but it was worth it! Great ride!
