Does he speak English???

A kind of a funny storey for you all tonight... Jenn had invited two twin sisters, and their 4 year old brother to come over tonight for a sleep over with Emmie and Paige. Of course these kids are all born in Tennessee, and of course the accent of someone from Tennessee is quite different than someone from Canada.

All the kids really enjoyed dinner tonight...lots of chicken! Before dinner, Shawn and I were in the kitchen enjoying a liquid refreshment before dinner time, after we just finished slugging it out on the wood lot for over 5 hours! I had a conversation with young four year old Grant and thought we were doing well. We all enjoyed supper, and then Shawn and I moved downstairs to the great room to take in the Toronto hockey game. Shawn was trying to explain the game of hockey to young Grant, and I threw in a couple of points that make the game of hockey. Young Grant, looks over at Shawn and says, "does he speak english???" Shawn and I both just about rolled on the floor laughing... Out of the mouths of babes! Guess my Canadian accent was a bit too much for him, but I thought we were actually talking to each other a bit before, although I questioned what language he was speaking!

Today was a great day weather wise again... a bit of overcast but quite a bit of sun, and nice warm temperatures. This morning was a bonus, as Paige and Emmie had a soccer game to play, so I tagged along with them to watch. Shawn and Jenn are the coaches for the team. I could not take a picture of the game, as I don't have my iPhone here, and forgot my camera and iPad... oh well, it was fun to watch, and both the kids scored a goal!

This afternoon, Shawn and I were back at the job a hand. We still have a lot of chain sawing to do, and also we have a rented log splitter to get rid of some of the bulk wood.

Shawn is starting up the Honda Motor on this log splitter. It is brand new, and runs like a "deer" sort to speak. Nice machine, and is very easy to operate... check out the video I made below to show you what this baby can do.

We ended up working from noon, till about 6 p.m. this evening, before breaking for dinner and a hockey game. Of course the Leafs are playing tonight.

Another full day of work scheduled tomorrow, and the weather looks like it is going to remain good for us. Hard to believe it is almost time to think about flying back home on Monday!

Just a "Chipper" day here in Tennessee.

Nothing but full sun and 25 deg. C.! I will take it! What a day it was... great to be able to work outside all day. Thankfully we had lots of shade to do our work in, so we did not boil over...

Shawn had arranged to rent a 6 inch power woodchipper today, to take care of all the limbs that we had cut up the past couple days, and there was lots of it!

He rented the machine from a local Rental Store...it is an awesome machine, with a 25 hp. motor to power the hydraulics that run the beast.

It turns your branches into a nice wood mulch, that Shawn plans on using around the kid's playhouse area, and other selected spots on the property.

Now, you do want to mind that you keep both your arms, and legs and any other body part away from the feeding shoot, as it just does not stop! I shot a couple videos below that will show you the long and short on how this thing works.

This is a loud machine, and hearing protection is a mandatory piece of equipment to wear along with a good set of work gloves and safety glasses. My arms tonight look like a wild cat got loose with a big set of claws! Ouch! Where is a Dr. when you need one!

Oh...if you look right up top, there is the Dr. blowing a bunch of leaves out of the gutters. Lots of leaves falling around here with all these trees.

We started chipping at 8:30 this morning, and finished up by 3:30 we finshed up all the chipping! Perfect! We took the machine back, and picked up a 25 inch Chainsaw! We have some major logs to cut up that are lying right where the pool is going to be. They want to start next week on the install.

Check out the log you see Shawn sitting on above. We cut out that 4 foot big section that rolled forward on us! This is a monster log, and is over 55 feet long! We will cut it all up tomorrow, and a few others. We are also going to rent a big log splitter and start into log splitting tomorrow!

After we cut the log, I counted 65 rings on the diameter of this log! Older than me! (Older than dirt, right Tom!)

Anyways, that is about it for progress today. Tomorrow morning we get to go and watch Paige play some soccer before our work for the day begins.

Work continues...

Today was another full work day for both Shawn and I... thankfully the weather was fully overcast, and we even had a little bit of rain here and there to keep us cool. We ended up putting in a very full day of work, and we are both starting to feel the "burn" sort to speak!

We ended up with good production again today, on a seeming less endless job.

Now you have to bear with me, as I took these pictures about 7:00 this evening... as it was getting dark out, but that is the way it goes... Above is the mountain of loose branches that we have compiled from two days of limbing the trees that have fallen. Tomorrow Shawn has arranged for us to pick up a wood chipper, that comes on a trailer, and we are going to attack this monster pile of branches.

Above will give you an idea of what the chipper will look like that we have arranged. Shawn plans on using all the wood chips around the property.

Above is a 45 foot tree that we cut into 8 foot lenghts today, incase we can arrange to send it to a wood mill. Still working on that.

You can see above how we have removed now, all the branches and brush, and pretty well have only the big tree trunks left. Our plan now is to rent a 25 inch chain saw, and see what kind of damage we can do with it, probably not until Saturday at this point. We figure tomorrow will be all wood chipping.

After work today, again we soaked in the hot tub for 1/2 an hour... felt pretty good!

P.S. I am being a good boy Judy, no time to go out and get into any kind of trouble!
