Mens day out!

Tom and I were two of the very few people who got out walking on the course this morning. Seems not too many wanted to walk in 40 deg. F. type weather...however the sun was out, so not too bad. The bigger problem was a very, very stiff breeze along with the cold temperatures. Didn't stop us though, as we walked our regular 5 miles.

After our walk, we soaked in the Resort hot tub which was just a perfect thing to do. Of course all the people walking by laugh at us "Canadians" who are out in the hot tub in freezing temperatures! Must be a Canadian thing...

Dried off from the tub, and then picked up with Tom's Cousin, Roger who is now down here, and we had a mission to attend to! The other day when Judy and I were down in Seabring visiting the State Park, I noticied that Harbour Freight had opened a new Store!

 

This is certainly a good place to send your man if you want to get rid of him for a while Ladies.... most of us can just browse through this store and simply not want to leave. They have just about everything you need to fix/built/renovate/start/stop/glue/drill/cut/saw/ if you get the drift... you have to watch out for flyers though, and check the dates on them. For example, they have a nice variable speed,reversible, 18 volt cordless power drill for sale at $24.00, including the charger for the battery. After looking at the flyer, I noted that the drill goes on sale tomorrow for only $16.00! Some may view this as an excuse to go back, and I think they are right!

We made a day of it all, and had a blast. We hit a bunch of other stores as well, keeping the local Florida economy going.

Made it back to the Resort just in time for Happy Hour, funny how that works!

Time to get moving...

Things cooled off here a bit today, (if you can call it that...) as our high was only in the early 70's rather than our usual 85+ temps... we will survive!

We decided to get moving today, so loaded up our bikes and headed down to Seabring, 1/2 hour drive south of us, and made our way to Highlands Hammock State Park. We have been to this Park in the past, but it remains one of our favourites. We decided on it, as they showed they had over 6 miles of bike trails.

 

Takes less than 10 minutes to load up the bikes on the Cruze...best bike carrier I have owed! We were off!

The board above gives a bit of an overall glimps of the park. Great hiking, and camping here with other activities.

We started right off on the bike trail... check out the red dirt along the path. Trail is nice and level here, as there are simply no real hills in Florida. ( Have you ever seen a swamp with hills?) I even managed to crack off a selfie with the iPhone and caught Judy in the background grinning away...

They have a great board walk hike out over the swamp... check out the bird's reflection...

We found a real nice spot to enjoy our packed lunch... egg salad galore!

 

We took the time after lunch to enjoy a few of the trails, about 20 minutes each. They had great bike parking spots as you cannot bike on the hiking trails.

Was running my Argus App on the iPhone to track our biking adventure. We did an additional 4 Kms after this screen shot was taken. Looking at the speed graph at the bottom, it looks like we did a lot of starting and stopping...lol

Team Canada is Golden!

What a game!

 

Team Canada deserves their time in the lime light! Last night was a thrilling 5 to 4 victory over Team Russia, that put one heck of a fight, and refused to go away! This is what hockey is meant to be! TSN would agree, as last night at around 10:30, viewers peaked out in Canada at 9.1 Million people, with an average of over 7 million watching the game! That is how you sell advertising! We had an impromptu Team Canada viewing party down here in Florida, with a total of 7 people from the Park coming over to my man cave to catch the game which I was able to set up outside with my portable TV. Things did get a little loud and out of control at times, but all my neighbours were very good about it, and the police never did show up! Sure was nice to hear "O Canada" at the end of that one!

Our weather has simply been wonderful for the past while, with temperatures topping out around 85 deg. F. each day lately. Today was no exception. I have got some work done though lately... check it out...

I was able to get the upper nose cone cleaned up and wax with 3 coats yesterday. How you might ask? Glad you did! With Tom here in the park, I was able to borrow his extension ladder, which matches mine. They also stand in an A shape with the bent legs extended. I simply put one on each side of my engine, and placed a 12 foot, 2 X 10 board across the two ladders to form a makeshift scaffold. It worked just great!

Presto, there I am, all in position to clean the nose cone. I use to climb up on the roof, and extend my body over the nose cone, trying to hold on for dear life! Only expense was $12.00 for the board, which Tom and I split on, as he has plans for it as well.

The board sat 2 inches above my motor, just perfect, and the board also did not bend under my weight. (Come on... I don't weigh that much you know....)

Yesterday, one of our Neighbours from Wisconsin, Doyle, turned 75 years young, so Mark and Marsha held a Happy Hour Birthday Party for him! There was close to 40 people show up...

That is Doyle, (in all his glory) sitting with some of his girlfriends he brought to the party with him! Great time had by all!
