My Leaf’s Crown the Kings! Meeting of the Bloggers

OK, so the good news is I got my computer back from Rensim, which is a computer shop located at 13550 Palm Drive in Desert Hot springs.  Just as advertised, $29.95 and running fast and virus free!  They did a great job!

So yesterday, we made our big trip to L.A. to do some touring, and take in the Leaf Game.  The weather was perfect and we had a great day.  I will post pictures of our touring tomorrow, but I was so excited about my Leaf’s last night, that is all I want to blog about, other that something special at the end of this blog!  Stay tuned.

The Staples Centre in L. A. is awesome!  (Why do all our pictures have Palm Trees in them????)

Judy and I were right into this game with our sweaters and game face on!

This is the front entrance, with a great spot for the tail gaters to gather.  At night this is all lite up!

Augh… in the distance, you can see the Leafs Nation starting to gather…  I think there was over 1,000 Leaf Sweaters at the game… amazing for being so far away from the centre of the universe!

The Captain, Dion Phaneuf comes over to speak to me before the game, for some advise on how to handle the Kings… I did not want to interfere with what Coach Ron Wilson tells the players, so I told him just to have a good game!

Yes, the Leaf Nation lives in L. A.

Our tuff guy, Colton Orr…

Just before the game started,  they played a rock song, and put on a totally awesome laser light show!  You had to be there for this one!  The Staples Centre is state of the art and they provide the full experience for the guest!

Full Marks go out to the L. A. Kings, as this was billed as Canada night in L.A. with Air Canada as the game sponsor.  They also had the Canadian Air Force supply the Colour Party along with the American Armed Forces, and a Member of the Canadian Armed Forces sang the Anthems.  Made you proud to be Canadian, as the Americans cheered us!  Again, you had to be there for that one!

They also honoured an American Soldier, who was just back from Afghanistan, and was awarded the Medal of Honour by President Obama.  You should have seen the ovation he received from the crowd.  Awesome!  It was too dark in the Arena to get any pictures of any kind of all this, but it was great just to be there!

The King’s Mascot was trying to rev up the crowd with the Kings down 3 to 2 late in the 3rd…

Celebration Time… Leaf’s win…

Here is a neat shot of the Staples Centre as we left.  Game over at 10:30 p.m. and we were safe at home by 12:20 in Desert Hot Springs!

Today was a great day, and we got to meet some fellow bloggers.  We met Kim and Don, along with Gator the dog, and Juniper the cat of K and D in the RV   They are here for another week before they leave for Quartzite.  Enjoyed coffee and swapped a bunch of RV stories…

While we were visiting, Rick and Paulette from Rick & Paulette's RV Travels  came by for a visit.  It was nice outside so we all sat outside and shared more stories!

Here they are with Molly and Rylie.

We had a great visit with both couples, and it was sure nice to meet the folks who write the blogs!  Rick and Paulette will be here for a few months so we may get a chance to run into them again!

Whew… another busy day…

Till tomorrow…

  1. Great pics and story about your visit to the Staples Center to see the Leafs play.

It was really great getting to meet you both over at Kim and Don's today. We'll have to get together again for sure as we're both going to be here for a while. The Ruby's Diner breakfast idea is good for us!!

  4. Back in the early days, with only 4 channels on TV, I remember fondly watching the Leaf's play every week on "Hockey Night in Canada" our channel 9 here in the Detroit area. They are still my favorite Canadian hockey team. Being from the Detroit area, I just have to root for my team though, the Red Wings.
Looking forward to following your adventures.

  8. I tried to find you in the crowd on TV but couldn't... but if you were behind the penalty box I think I was watching the wrong side. Awesome game I stayed up for the whole thing because I couldn't stop watching. Glad you had fun. Are you going to Phoenix for tommorows? :)
