Seasons Change!

Yes, the seasons can change... we found out today, that is for sure.... We decided to take out our motorcycles and go on a tour to Borrego Springs, which is located in the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in southern California. It was a great day and started out getting warm... Judy took all the pictures again today, I think I may be on strike, I am not sure... she started off with a great picture of our "Dash Cat"... Patra loves sitting on the dash in the early morning when the sun comes up...

We packed our lunch and headed out. We are in a small Town called Boulevard, California, and we headed up the S1 towards the Town of Jullien, which is up at the intersection of Hwy. 78 and 79. This is a shot on the S1. It is a great Hwy. that takes you right over Mount Laguana.

The only problem with Mount Laguana is that it is over 6,000 feet up in the air! Yes, it also snows up there... lucky for us it was a beautiful sunny day, and it was not all that cold, even up at the 6,000 foot level...

You can see for miles from the top of this mountain... a nice clear day...

We met 3 guys who were on their bicycles climbing the mountain, and they offered to take our picture at the top.... they were all in shape, you have to be to climb this mountain without a motor...

We stopped at a few lookouts on the way up, this one was terrific...

We made it to the lookout at the Town of Jullien, we had been here with the Morrisons in January, Judy took a pic of the Cross on top of the lookout mountain...
While Judy was taking pictures of the Cross, I was viewing the map to figure out which way to go... there is a lot of desert out there to cover... when we left here on Hwy. 78, we drop from over 6,000 feet to about 350 feet at Borrego Springs.... what a drop. It is also a lot warmer on the desert floor than it is up in the mountains....

In the centre of the small Town of Borrego Springs, there is a nice park area called "Christmas Circle". We stopped here to have our picnic lunch.... a bit of a change in climate from the top of the mountains....

Nice picnic shelter, but not used today, too much sun....

Some of the nicest grass here that I have seen in California.

Another shot of the park....

This weird tree is in the middle of the park, wish I knew what it was....

This is a shot looking up the main street of Borrego Springs...

They had these real nice high end marble picnic tables that we used... as you can tell, the temp was a bit warmer here than up in the mountains...
We went to the main Visitor's Centre for the Anza Borrego State Park which is really nice. Judy took these pictures inside of the displays... the reason we wanted to come here today was really a scouting trip, as we will probably come over here next week when we leave Sacred Rocks, and camp out in the desert...
Here Kitty Kitty....
They have a nice desert garden at the centre that we looked around....
This year the desert has received twice as much rain as usual... over 8 inches so far.... so the desert is starting to bloom...
Lots of blooms....
Funny to see the cactus plants come to life with flowers... very cool....
We stopped in Borrego Springs for an ice cream cone, and then decided we had better beat feet home, as it was after 3:00 p.m. and we had almost 2 hours to drive back to the RV. It was downright cold on the top of Mount Laguana as we came across, but it was worth it. Some of the greatest views we have come across since we left Ontario!
I want to go back tomorrow, just to do the drive again!
Till tomorrow...
