Up bright and early this morning, as we planned on visiting and touring the oldest City in the U.S.A. We boarded the Jeep and headed to Old Town Trolley Tours located right downtown St. Augustine. This is the perfect way to start touring, as they take you all over, and explain the City in a 70 minute ride around Town.
We ended up spending the whole day touring, and headed home around 5:00 p.m. this afternoon... what a great day!
My plan is not to bombard you all in one blog about our time here... it would be a little too long... so, I will just focus on a couple activities. The tram ride itself is great, as the tour guides are fantastic, and make the tour a lot of fun.
These first few pictures show you how narrow the roads are down in Old Town. Being discovered by the Spanish all the building are of Spanish Architecture.
Check out Magnolia Ave. above, which apparently hit the top 10 list in the U.S. for favourite Street rides! Nice oak trees line this street.
You can also get "Trigger" to pull you around for your own personal tour...
This Oak Tree above, which is located inside the Howard Johnson Parking Lot, is certified to be over 650 years old! Yikes... it has a 13 foot diamater.
Judy found this Peacock running around one of the trolley stops...
Now, as we all know, you get hungry out touring, so Judy wanted to try out this restaurant she had heard of... turned out to be a great spot...No name out front, but it is called Columbia.
Nice court yard and fountain out front... right smack in Old Town St. Augustine.
Very fancy looking, and fancy service... they built our 1905 Salad right at our table... with a great Cuban Sandwich! We enjoyed! More on the tour tomorrow...
So the Big Winner was Trent and Teresa, being our 200,000 hit on the blog the other night... His comment went something like this... " It was me, it was me..." Now he admits he had to hit the refresh button a couple time to hit 200,000 but a true blogger he is, he took on the job! Thanks for reading you guys... just have to figure out what your prize is now???? Maybe a new Gecko..... Hmmmmmmm, where can I get one of those?
Till tomorrow...
That is one place we have to write down on our bucket list. Consider it done!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat town. We hope to spend next winter in Florida. We will definitely be visiting SA. Thanks for the tour.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a very long time since we visited that area and your pics brought back memories. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great tour of St. Augustine. That restaurant didn't look like the kind of place a guy could order a cheeseburger with fries!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect place to "hide out for a few days" on your way back to Ontario. Sounds like you had a great day one with more interesting tours to come.
ReplyDeleteWe took the same tour there many years ago, (before digital cameras and blogs) thanks for bringing back the memories.
